Without debate, without criticism, no Administration and no country can succeed and no republic can survive. [The purpose of the press is] not primarily to amuse and entertain, not to emphasize the trivial and the sentimental, not to simply "give the public what it wants," but to inform, to arouse, to reflect, to state our dangers and our opportunities, to indicate our crises and our choices, to lead, mold, educate and sometimes even anger public opinion. — President Kennedy
The Southborough Democrat was created in 2023 by James Nichols-Worley to fill the gap in local news in his hometown of Southborough with independent-minded reporting and research. We aim to provide in-depth policy analysis at the municipal level, and show the connections between the federal and state government and local government.
We are incredibly grateful for the nonpartisan news organizations serving Southborough and Central Massachusetts, including My Southborough, Community Advocate, & the Worcester Telegram & Gazette.
The Southborough Democrat is affiliated with the Southborough Democratic Town Committee and maintained by its Secretary. The Southborough Democrat Democrat does not directly accept donations nor advertisements, nor do we track or maintain the website's visitor data.
